Generous portions in the Latin Quarter!

We were after an inexpensive meal on Sunday (21 Sept) at around 6 pm prior to taking a Seine river cruise and chanced upon this cosy and quirky restaurant ten minutes walk from the Pont Neuf. Due to the early hour by French standards, we were the only occupied table for a while, but the music emanating from old 45s, subdued lighting and comfy surroundings more than made up for the lack of other diners. There was an a la carte menu but also two “formule” choices were on offer at Euros 12 & 16 (2 and 3 courses respectively), with a small but adequate choice on each. Our party ended up selecting main courses comprising crisped duck leg, burger and chicken goulash, all of which were tasty and of generous size for a normal appetite. For dessert, we chose the apple tart, melted cheese with honey, chocolate fondant and apple crumble, all of which were beautifully presented and delicious. The service was very good and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant, not only for the quality of the food but also the price … eating in Paris doesn’t have to be expensive! And as we left at 7:15 pm, nearly all the tables were taken, which speaks for itself.
